The Role
The successful candidate will work from the St. John’s office with the Senior leadership team and project managers and report to the Controller.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervision and support for the project accounting team which includes all project-related accounting and contract management functions (project setup, budget setup, job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract management)
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of all data within the project accounting software and create accurate financial reports, while supporting Project Managers
  • Reconciliation of subcontractor invoices/contracts and posting of subcontractor invoices
  • Preparation and payment of payment certificates to subcontractors
  • Preparation and posting of monthly progress bills to clients based upon direction from Project Managers
  • Development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • General accounting and analysis related to the preparation of regular monthly, quarterly, and yearly reconciliations and reports for banking, investments, HST, credit cards, internal and external audits, etc.
  • Management of accounting for other related companies
  • Other duties as assigned

The Requirements
  • Completion of post-secondary degree/diploma with a focus on accounting
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an Assistant Controller role, preferably in a construction environment
  • Experience managing/supervising a team
  • Strong work ethic with a relentless drive to fulfill commitments
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Experience in job costing software (Jonas preferred) and construction management software (Procore preferred) is considered an asset
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
